Well, we knew the time would come that our jobs would be outsourced.
The ad agency is being outsourced, to, thats right you guessed it, the web. The very medium that has been the boondoggle for integrated and interactive marketing agencies is threatening to take our jobs. Openad.net is a new open source advertising community that promises advertisers the best ideas at the best prices. Their network of Creatives is drawn from over 122 countries throughout the world and includes more than 9,000 individuals. Damn, and I thought pitching against 9 other agencies in a shoot out was a bitch. The funny thing is that as agencies we are all trying to rally each other NOT to do spec work and the entire concept of this site is BASED on spec work. The client actually buys it if they like it. I wish other things in life were like that.....
The one element they get right and us normal agencies should learn from is the licensing of the ideas. We should treat our ideas and campaigns no different than a music track or photograph, rather than selling the work outright to our clients. It only makes sense.
